Designer Picks for a Beach Style Home

d8bb1033435371c63d38da2cddbc23b0Decorating a home can be overwhelming. We’ve all been there. You know what we are talking about… Flipping through a hundred decorating magazines searching for ideas, collecting random clippings of a pretty table or unique lamp we’d love to own and worst of all — standing paralyzed, staring at a million options in the paint aisle and having to choose just one color. Sometimes we need a little bit of guidance.

That’s why we are introducing our Iron Accents Designers Picks By Style blog series! You can check out our “Designer Picks by Style” Shopping Guide on our Designers Picks page at Our how-to-pull-it-all-together section features the color, accessory and furniture elements for all the popular styles you can imagine. We have it all: pPlace settings, sconces, chairs, accent tables, towel bars – visual examples that bring to life the décor you imagined! But, we couldn’t stop there. We also had to create style boards on our Pinterest for even more ideas and shared style adaptations.

This month, we are kicking off our blog series with the most summer-friendly style there is: Beach home decor! Whether you’re lucky enough to live on the beach 365 days a year, or you have a vacation home you visit a few weeks out of the year, our designer picks are sure to inspire you to make your beach home better than ever!

When it comes to beach décor, warm climates and tropical destinations dominate. Beach homes typically features design with vibrant colors (think shades of coral, turquoise, yellow, or green) and simple textures that evoke feelings of fun and relaxation. Because most traffic in and out of your house will be covered in sandy feet, low-key sisal or jute rugs are the best choice. This casual style showcases artwork that can be easily created by different pieces collected during your time on the beach including seashore inspired accents such as shells, sea glass, driftwood.

Focus on Furniture: Comet Basket Chair

You can never get rid of all the sand when you live in a home on the beach. That’s why beach home furniture is usually chosen for its ease of maintenance and is often made of wicker or slip covered in easy wash cotton. This Comet Basket Chair features a comfortable open weave design and a modern scoop shape. Made of rattan and steel, this comfortable chair is universally appealing. Cluster several in conversation areas or feature one in an airy reading nook for some private time in your beach home.

Focus on Furniture: Patch Wood Bed

Old favorites like beaded board, siding and barn wood, all with original paint, are planed down to exact thickness to create an even surface. Then pieces are hand-cut and affixed to solid wood. A variation of patchwork patterns emerge. But, don’t be fooled by what may first sound like Grandma’s quilt. Once you see the modern approach to design we take starting with clean, minimalist lines and ending with the patina-finished steel that frames each piece, you’ll discover the unexpected. A furniture piece that is modern and rustic, comfortable and stylish, artistic and unpretentious, all at the same time. This Patch Wood Bed is a beautiful addition to a beach home bedroom.

Functional and Fun: “Trunks & Bikinis” Towel Racks

After a relaxing day soaking up the sun and listening to the waves crash, you need somewhere to hang those wet, sand-covered towels and swimsuits. If the Fish Shaped Towel Rack doesn’t do it for you, then how about this “Trunks & Bikinis” Towel Rack? It’s perfect for a beach theme home. Place in your version of your “Beach Mud Room”, on your porch, or right outside your door for easy access on your way out.

Decorate Your Walls: Reclaimed Wood Frames

The burlap wrapped interior frame and weathered wood on these Reclaimed Wood Frames are ideal for showing off your loved ones at your beach home. Display your most treasured memories against the weathered wood, reminiscent of driftwood that will wash up right in your backyard.

As with all home decor, the genius of design is in the details. With this Starfish Toilet Paper Holder, you can effortlessly tie your bathroom decor together with the rest of your beach home. Consider pairing with our Starfish Towel Bars and Starfish Towel Ring and other beach theme bathroom accessories.

Design is in the Details: Cast Iron Mermaid

Yet again, design is in the details! And that’s why this Cast Iron Mermaid shelf sitter is the ideal decor piece for your beach home. Sitting elegantly atop your shelfs, the beautiful antique green finish will look beautiful mixed in with other patina pieces throughout your home.

Entertain in Style: Rattan Beverage Dispensers
