According to the calendar, it won’t officially be summer for a few more days. However, here in North Georgia, we’ve been battling the heat for weeks. While the mountains are a beautiful place to enjoy the sunny season, at Iron Accents, we have to admit we’re all yearning for a little sand under our toes, a tropical drink and an ocean view. That’s precisely why we’ve decided to name June our Beach Wedding Month!
For decades, beach weddings have been regarded as a less traditional alternative to churches and other common venues. In previous generations, a beach wedding was generally composed of a casually dressed and barefoot couple, a small gathering of loved ones and a short ceremony overlooking the waves. However, just as with many other popular wedding concepts, many modern couples are putting their own personal spin on nautical-themed nuptials. In fact, a beach wedding no longer has to be any less show-stopping or elegant than a ceremony in a historic cathedral or lavish event hall. Keep reading for some of our favorite beach wedding decor ideas!
Signage – It’s no secret that we’re a big fan of signs. In fact, our vintage-style Wooden Box Signs are among our most popular and best selling items! From romantic quips to simple instructions, a little bit of signage can go a long way in your beach wedding decor – and we have plenty of options to choose from. Complement a few of our box signs with your own DIY wooden plank signs or rent some of our stylish chalk boards. Give guests theme-appropriate directions to your ceremony site, cocktail hour and reception.
Shells – When it comes to celebrating the biggest day of your life beachside, implementing seashells into your decor is really a no-brainer. Best of all? They’re completely free! At least, they are if you do a little pre-wedding beach combing. Pick up some colorful sea glass, sand and a few colorful shells and arrange the items in a glass cloche to create an effortless centerpiece. Fashion larger shells into tea light holders for a romantic glow or string small shells into your hair for a mermaid chic look.
Beverages – If there is one thing a beach wedding (or any wedding) can’t do without – it’s beverages. Of course, the need for cocktails and cool drinks on a balmy evening gives you just another opportunity to introduce your theme into your decor. Snag a couple of our Rattan Beverage Dispensers for lemonade, tropical fruit-infused water or something slightly stronger. Regardless of how you fill them, the delicately woven rattan sleeves of these dispensers will give your beach bash a Caribbean feel.
Of course, these aren’t our only beach wedding ideas. Hop on over to our Pinterest page and check out our Wedding of the Month pin boards for additional inspiration. First, though, tell us:
