After a bit of a late start, we are delighted announce that our new potting shed and garden area is now open! It was an exciting project in which we were able to acquire authentic materials from an 1890’s general store from right here in North Georgia!
With skilled carpenter Brian LeSage handling the challenging reconstruction, we were also able to utilize recycled vintage wood plank flooring, vintage windows and shutters, as well as other architectural elements throughout. And with Brian custom building the foundation, gable vents and all the other charming finishing details to completed perfection!
The potting shed opens onto a roomy front porch complete with inviting rocking chairs and window boxes and planters overflowing with colorful flowers. The shed overlooks our new large garden area, and an adorable picket fence surrounds all. As you pass under the front wooden arbor into the garden, you come to our new center fountain, and we have just begun to fill in this area with iron gazebos and antique garden accents, with a recycled brick walkway in the planning.
At this stage, with the potting shed and basic elements in place, we are excited to get started filling in with all the plantings, and would welcome and appreciate any advice or ideas from all of our green-thumbed gardening friends! So, come on out and sit a spell on our breezy covered porch and enjoy some nostalgic reflections, and as always, a unique shopping experience!
With the upcoming Halloween and Christmas seasons approaching, we can’t wait to decorate our newest addition, and are busily planning some “over the top” displays for the holidays! Read more about our potting shed here.
